This page is for everything that doesn't fit onto any other page (the true reason behind the "etc." part of the site title). It will feature things that I really enjoy. Perhaps you will find nothing interesting here, but I hope that you do. If nothing else, it's a good way to get to know me better. :)

Anime

I've loved anime even before I knew that I was watching it. On Cartoon Network, when they first invented Toonami in about 1995/1996, they showed Voltron and Robotech. I really liked Robotech, but Voltron annoyed me. It wasn't until relatively recently when I watched it again that I realized why. The dub is so horrible it's painful to watch. They also showed Speed Racer really late at night. Even after this exposure it wasn't until two years later that I really got into anime.

The one that did it was Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon R. I watched it on Fox Kids when I was eleven. Of course, they'd dropped the "Pretty Soldier" part off the name when they dubbed it along with the series differentiation. It wasn't until I started looking on the Internet for pictures and info soon after I first saw it that I realized that Sailor Moon was anime.

My love of Dragon Ball Z didn't come until two years later. It's also the one that got me into fanfiction reading and writing (and inspired my "internet addiction"). When the Planet Namek website still existed, I read all of the fanfics and info they had up and submitted one of my own (Once Upon a Dream). They also had scanlations of the Japanese manga (the Android and Majin Buu sagas) that made me realize how evil FUNimation was for dubbing DBZ so badly. Even their corrections to things post-Furiza saga didn't make up for it. Dragon Ball is dubbed a lot better, but they had to stick with the stupid changes they'd made to DBZ. The *Japanese* version of Dragon Ball GT is so bad it's really not worth mentioning. And FUNimation dubbing it brought it to lows I didn't think was possible. The only anime I think they've dubbed reasonably well is Full Metal Alchemist

I've been, more or less, active in the Dragon Ball fandom since 1999. If you want to know what fanfics I thought were good, head on over to the fanfiction recommendation website. I have more fandoms there than just Dragon Ball.

Anime that I've seen (my favorites are marked with an !) For info, visit Anime Nfo or Anime DB.
(I'm not necessarily saying that I've seen every single episode of a series, but I have, at least, seen some of it. The ones I've seen all of will be marked with an *) --- D = dubbed, S = subbed

No, I haven't gotten into Naruto. I've only seen the first episode.

Computer Stuff

This section is dedicated to computer tips and software recommendations.

Manga

I've read far less manga than I've seen anime. My interest in this is relatively new and most of it's BL manga. If I have the complete series, then it's marked with an asterisk (*). (I really need to start focusing on completing one series before moving on to another.) By the way, South Korean manga is called "manwha".

Music

I've recently started listening to music a lot. I used to tell people that I didn't like it, but it turns out that I don't like what everyone around me is listening to. Anyway, I like rock, and some metal and alternative. And J-Pop. That's pretty much it.

These are the artists I have on my MP3 player right now (asterisks denote J-Pop artists): 10 Years, 12 Stones, 3 Doors Down, 30 Seconds to Mars, Adema, A Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains, Army of Anyone, Asian Kung-Fu Generation*, Atreyu, Audioslave, Black Light Burns, Blindside, bloodsimple, Blue October, Breaking Benjamin, Buckcherry, Bullet For My Valentine, CKY, Chevelle, Cold, Cool Joke*, Crossfade, Dark New Day, Daughtry, Days of the New, Default, Disturbed, Do As Infinity*, Earshot, Evanescence, Evans Blue, Fall Out Boy, Finger Eleven, Firescape, Five Finger Death Punch, Flyleaf, Foo Fighters, Framing Hanley, Fuel, Garbage, Godsmack, Good Charlotte, Guns N' Roses, H.I.M., Hinder, Hitomi*, Hoobastank, Hurt, Incubus, Institute, Iron Maiden, Jet, K.ITO + D.K.*, Karnivool, Katatonia, Killswitch Engage, Korn, Kotani Kinya*, L'Arc~en~Ciel*, Lacuna Coil, Linkin Park, Mudvayne, My Chemical Romance, Nana Kitade*, Nickelback, Otoha*, Our Lady Peace, Ozzy Osbourne, P.O.D., Panic! at the Disco, Pierrot*, Point One, Poison the Well, Porno Graffiti*, Red, Rob Zombie, Saliva, Seemless, Seether, Seki Tomokazu*, Sevendust, Shinedown, Sixx:A.M., Slipknot, Soundgarden, Spineshank, Sponge, Staind, Static-X, Stone Sour, Stone Temple Pilots, Submersed, Systematic, Tamura Naomi*, Tantric, Taproot, The Exies, The Gathering, The Smashing Pumpkins, Thousand Foot Krutch, Three, Three Days Grace, Trapt, TRUSTcompany, Two-Mix*, V6*, Velvet Revolver, Yamaguchi Kappei*, Yellow Generation*, Yellowcard (and other assorted J-Pop songs)

Yeah, that's a lot of different artists. I pretty much download whatever sounds good to me, ignoring the artist altogether. A lot of these selections came from Music Choice On Demand before I had a good MP3 player and could use a music service.

Here's a list of songs I like. Click on a link to get lyrics transcribed by me (except for the J-Pop ones because I'm not fluent in Japanese). I've noticed that, on many lyric websites, the lyrics are either misspelled, transcribed incorrectly, or have parts missing. Since I'm a big fan of using proper English and of being as accurate as possible, you can trust that my transcriptions are actually correct (I listened to Three's "All That Remains" about fifteen times until I finally could understand the words "brought it to wicked eyes"), but if there *is* something glaringly wrong, please tell me about it.

Disclaimer: I'm not trying to claim ownership of any of these songs. I'm just providing a service to the public by making these lyrics available.

If you couldn't tell, Chevelle's my favorite :) (though I have a lot of My Chemical Romance songs as well)

My Top 5 Favorite Bands

  1. Chevelle
  2. Breaking Benjamin
  3. My Chemical Romance
  4. The Exies
  5. Three (tied with) Killswitch Engage

The Sims

The Sims is one of the best video games ever. I love it so much that it deserves its own section instead of being stuck with all of the other games. When the original version came out I played it obsessively, but after they made the sims more like real people in the sequel, I abandoned the original. I spend a lot of time searching for objects, clothes, mods to download for my Sims. I've even thought about making music videos, but my artistic skills leave a lot to be desired. Besides, I can't afford good video editing software. I have ideas for videos featuring Kotani Kinya's "Anti-Nostalgic" and L'arc~en~Ciel's "Ready Steady Go." I haven't seen J-pop-based music videos on sims99.com.
